North Devon has beaches galore, including one that’s been voted as the best in the UK and one of the best in the world. Here you can live the real beach life, and while away hazy summers on golden sands or wrap up warm and watch winter swells roll in from the Atlantic.

Hele Bay Beach

Our local beach, and yours whilst you stay. 

Set in a small and sheltered cove, Hele Bay Beach is part sand, part shingle, and has been awarded a Blue Flag for cleanliness. It’s popular with canoeists and perfect for families that don’t want overcrowding. There are rock pools to explore with your fishing nets and secret smugglers caves to discover. Dogs are allowed in restricted areas too.

Putsborough 

Putsborough is a dog friendly beach situated at the western end of Woolacombe. It boasts safe, sheltered swimming and water sports. There are lifeguards, a beach shop, café, and a large car park— it's also ideal for access to the South West Coast Path.

Croyde Bay Beach

This beach is number one for surfing. The swell gets big, so it’s usually the more experienced surfers that ride the waves here. Beach lifeguards patrol the beach all day. The pretty thatched village of Croyde sits behind—a chance to see traditional Devon life.

Saunton Sands

Silken sands unfurl into the distance, backed by the largest sand dune system in the UK—a little beach planet. You’ll find a surf hire shop, surf lessons, beach shops, a restaurant with a sea view balcony, and complete peace. A truly mesmerising place to visit.

Woolacombe Beach

This spectacular beach has miles of golden sand and has previously been voted by TripAdvisor as the best in the UK. It’s brilliant for learning to surf, with daily lifeguard patrol—but also for experienced surfers too as unbroken waves roll in from the Atlantic. You'll find surf lessons and equipment hire are available by the beach. Woolacombe itself has a selection of bars and restaurants—perfect for an evening out.
