Golf

GolfEnjoy a round of golf on one of our superb 18 hole championship standard golf courses whilst taking in a breathtaking view of the North Devon rugged coastline. Well stocked golf shops with equipment to hire and tuition. The Royal North Devon at Westward Ho! is the oldest Links course in England laid out in 1864. Ilfracombe’s course is the second oldest, having been laid out in 1892 and Saunton Golf Club is a Championship course, famous throughout the country. All these courses are within an hour’s drive of Hele Valley.

Fishing

FishingYou can fish from the shore off the rocks at Hele and Ilfracombe, whilst taking care of your safety. Take a fishing trip from one of the many boats that operate from Ilfracombe harbour. Alternatively, you could try your hand at trout fishing at Blakewell Fisheries, or spend a peaceful day at Mill Park, Berrynarbor, an acre and a quarter lake set in attractive woodland, and Little Comfort farm, Braunton which both offer fishing for carp, rudd, roach and bream.

Walking & Cycle Paths

CroydeNorth Devon offers some of the best walking found anywhere in the world. There are lots of marked cycle trails, route leaflets and traffic free cycle ways. The Tarka Trail Cycle Path is an unbroken 34-mile long trail. Cycle hire is easy. Hire bikes from Braunton, Barnstaple, Fremington, Bideford and Great Torrington. The South West Coast Path is Britain’s longest footpath stretching over 600 miles from Somerset to Dorset. The North Devon section of the path is 90 miles long and boasts some of the most spectacular scenery of all.
