CHILDREN'S PLAY AREA

We are pleased to provide facilities for children to play in a safe and secure area. Our play area is completely screened by a fence to keep children in and dogs out. We offer an area for under 5's and under 14's with suitable play equipment including a cable rider, swings, balancing beams and poles, etc. Children playing are protected from falls by non toxic rubber bark. Children enjoy play time here and even meet new holiday friends.

INTERNET

Within the Hele Valley reception we have a computer connected to the internet for our guests to use free of charge during reception opening hours.

SHOP

Within the Hele Valley reception we offer a small selection of essential groceries of which you might have forgotten or run out whilst on holiday. Some items we offer include bread, milk, dairy products, ice creams, cold drinks, ice cubes, tea, coffee, jam, rice, pasta, batteries, cards, camping equipment, gas cylinders, plasters, head ache tablets, etc .. to name just a few..!!

The Hele Bay Garage offer a mini mart open from 7am - 10pm.

Tesco and Lidl supermarkets are a short 5 minutes by car.

LAUNDRY ROOM

A Laundry is located at the right side of the reception with commercial washing and drying machines. An iron can be hired from the reception for the use in the Laundry. Opening times are from 9am - 6pm Monday to Saturday. A 'Service Wash' is available at a small additional charge.

HELE VALLEY NATURE TRAIL

For about 20 years a quarter of a mile stretch of unused land above the holiday park has been left to grow wild. A natural habitat for wildlife had developed which encouraged an interesting variety of plants, insects, birds and wildlife.

During the winter of 2006 we sympathetically walked a path through this area to study what species we could find there. We were amazed as the thick undergrowth was teeming with an array of interesting flowers, wildlife and insects. This lead experts in wildlife and conservation to conduct various studies and in 2007 we received funding from the North Devon AONB`s Sustainable Development Fund to develop a natural trail for visitors. The fund helped to identify our unique species and the construction of a suitable pathway for visitors to explore, understand and conserve the natural world. The fund also assisted in the production of a unique trail map and guide along with interpretation signs to aid visitors to relate nature to the need for conservation. We are continuing to install bird boxes, bird feeding tables, owl and bat boxes, birdbaths and around 20 dormouse boxes.

Nature Trail Construction

On an annual basis we cut back a small area to clear dead fern and nettle and then wait to see what grows. Today the trail is rich with nature and continues to amaze with new species found every day. We are delighted to offer visitors an area of stillness and a opportunity to explore and enjoy the hidden treasures that nature presents.

Flowers

Following extensive research already achieved we are able to offer lots of information about what you will see on our Nature Trail during any season. When the trail is more established we hope to invite experts to talk to us about specific species we might see such as moths, bats and mushrooms.

Wildlife

We are very proud of our natural environment and help to protect it in every way possible on a daily basis. Our efforts are well rewarded by the variety and beauty of nature we witness every day during our jobs. Since 2008 we have been awarded a SILVER David Bellamy conservation award. We like to share our enthusiasm by inviting you to join us at Hele Valley for an eye opening natural experience and a breath of fresh air.
